To be a strong and respected organization that promotes the rights, dignity, welfare and sustainable economic opportunities of porters in Tanzania.

Our mission

To protect and promote the rights and interests of porters through advocacy, education, health and safety support, economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, environmental awareness and unity.

Who we are

Established in January 2001 by Frank Olotu, himself a porter, Kiliporters was officially registered on 16 October 2001 under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Office of the Registrar of Civil Societies.

Today, we continue that mission by bringing porters together, advocating for decent working conditions, promoting health and safety, creating educational and economic opportunities, and supporting environmental conservation on Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

Behind every successful climb is a porter. They carry equipment, supplies and the needs of climbers through some of Tanzania's most challenging environments.

We promote responsible tourism and the protection of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
